Tottenham plan Wembley pitch replica as Mauricio Pochettino readies team for new Champions League home
Tottenham Hotspur will consider
creating their very own Wembley pitch at the club’s training ground as
Mauricio Pochettino devises a plan to juggle Premier League and
Champions League football at different venues.
It was last week confirmed that Spurs will next season play Champions League games at Wembley while the club’s new stadium is built, but will continue to host Premier League matches at White Hart Lane until fully moving out for the 2017-18 campaign.

The Spurs players currently have a recreational area at the training base where they can rest on chairs and sofas, but do not have beds and private rooms to sleep properly in. Pochettino’s plan will have to wait a while longer, however, as the lodge is unlikely to be completed in time for the start of next season.

Tottenham will have the opportunity to train on the Wembley turf ahead of Champions League games next season, while manager Pochettino and his staff will consider how best to prepare for European nights away from White Hart Lane.
One option is to change the dimensions of one of the four first-team pitches at the club’s state-of-the-art Enfield training base to mirror those at Wembley, so Pochettino’s squad do not have to make too many trips to the stadium in between games.
Measuring 100 metres long and 67m wide, White Hart Lane is one of the smallest pitches in the Premier League which Pochettino has complained about in the past. Wembley is five metres longer and two metres wider.

Meanwhile, as part of his bid to
attempt to claim every small advantage for his team, Pochettino is
planning that his players will sleep at the training ground in between
double sessions once the private lodge has been opened.
Work has started on the 45-bedroom lodge and Pochettino sees his players sleeping there following a morning session and lunch, ahead of an afternoon training routine.
