Arsenal are looking to speed up a move for Vardy before Euro 2016
starts next week and have scheduled a medical for Vardy before the
player flies to France on Monday for the tournament.
Vardy's release clause is £22 million for teams playing in the
Champions League, and Arsenal have moved to try and tie up a move for
the striker by activating the clause.
Arsenal are also ready to offer Vardy lucrative personal terms to
persuade him to leave this season's Premier League title-winners.
Leicester are reluctant to lose Vardy but are powerless to him talking to Arsenal once they triggered the release clause.
If Arsenal seal the signing of Vardy he will become Arsene Wenger's second big-money signing of the summer following the £30m arrival of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach last month, as Wenger looks to build a side capable of challenging for the title next season.
Vardy scored 24 goals for Leicester last season to spearhead their
stunning Premier League title success and he was named Football Writers
and Barclays Player of the Season.
The former Fleetwood Town man is also set to feature for England at
Euro 2016 after establishing himself as a key man in Roy Hodgson's
plans.
